The Tenno’s journey continues beyond the Origin System. With Warframe: Tau, Digital Extremes is preparing a new chapter in its sci-fi shooter, centered on a binary star system. This expansion to the world of Warframe pairs a solo narrative quest with new mission variants to tackle in co-op.
The orbital city of Fornax sets the tone for this adventure. Corruption, organized crime and black rain form the backdrop of this metropolis, where players encounter a new faction of Sentients. Digital Extremes also introduces MANIFOLD 90-BF, a social space populated by new characters.
Another destination, Perita shows what this moon has become since the events of The Old Peace. Its desert landscapes host new battles, along with a revamped version of the Survival missions. Tau thus expands the game’s star chart, with more locations set to be added over the course of future updates.
At the heart of the cinematic quest is Brysko, the 67th Warframe. This character draws on the conventions of the film noir detective and speaks in an inner monologue voiced by Matthew Mercer. His arsenal includes a canine companion and an Exalted revolver, the Corecracker.
Brysko can be obtained by playing or unlocked on the in-game market. The update also introduces Portau, a card game set in the world of Fornax. Together, these additions expand Warframe’s story and activities while preserving the Origin System, which will also continue to evolve.
