In the sights of the fashion world every season: Balenciaga. The wild and wacky House that breaks codes and shows off in ever more surprising shows! Founded in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga, the label had a completely different look. Cristóbal was the couturier to the Spanish royal family, before fleeing the Civil War to settle in Paris. It was in the City of Light that he created his own House, with collections inspired by the Spanish Renaissance. He also succeeded in developing new textiles, cracknyl and then gazar, which enabled him to revolutionize the world of Haute Couture.

He ended his activities in 1968, shortly before his death. Towards the end of the 90s, the House of Balenciaga returned to center stage, revitalized by the creative modernity of Nicolas Ghesquière, now at the helm of artistic direction. For 15 years, the designer drove the success of the label, before bowing out to join the ranks of Louis Vuitton. While the creative direction is still entrusted to Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia, who for the past 10 years has brought a futuristic, SF dimension to Balenciaga's collections, it will pass into the hands of Pierpaolo Piccioli (formerly Valentino) in October 2025.
