"We felt that the Afro hairdressing profession wasn't very professionalized", explains Luce, one of the salon's co-founders. "We are three black women who created the salon based on what we would like to find in terms of service in Afro hairdressing". Prices at the customer's discretion, timetables that aren't often respected, painful hairstyles... Afro hair salons don't have the best of reputations in the hairdressing world. So Inès, Luce and Élise, three former classmates who've become friends, decided to create B.Nova, a braiding bar for all hair types, but above all, with a solidarity impact behind it.
"We wanted a place where you felt comfortable getting your hair braided, with fairly autonomous appointment booking," Luce further explains. So, you'll be spoilt for choice between heart-shaped glued braids, the classics... Or more elaborate hairstyles, such as fulani braids, Goddess braids (below) with their diva allure, box braids (short version in photo) with curly finishes... In addition to the salon's essential services, a wide catalog is also available: it's up to you to share your wishes with the B.Nova team, by message on Instagram in particular.
B.Nova has a special touch: it's not just another hairdressing salon, since the hairdressers who are trained to do your braids are in a work-integration situation. In fact, the salon employs people who are far removed from the world of work, so that they can benefit from training and support. With a maximum duration of two years, the professional integration contract then leads to a recognized diploma in the hairdressing industry, or to a change of direction. " We support each employee in their projects, whether in hairdressing or not, after their time at B.Nova," says Luce.
The salon also does hair for children, provided they remain under their parents' supervision throughout the styling process. While you're in the salon, you'll also be offered a hot drink. Prices start at €60 for bonded braids and €80 for braids with extensions.
