After taking our wardrobe through its paces with Vestologie, then digging even into our bags with Sac, sac, sac : More Than a Bag, Printemps Haussmann this time looks a little lower. From 9 September to 28 October 2026, the department store dedicates Pas à Pas, its new exposition gratuite, to the shoe. Under the Wybo dome, on the 6th floor of Printemps Femme, eleven sections unfold an immersive and interactive journey around this accessory that’s clung to our heels for centuries.

Pas à Pas goes beyond the showcase of remarkable shoes. The fashion exhibition examines what they reveal about our eras, our bodies, and our habits: protection, seduction, social status, performance, constraint or desire. The route moves from Passage to Ébauche, passing through Évolutions, Fétiche, Performance, Formes, Empreintes, Résonance, Parure, Transparence and Figuration. Historical pieces, archives and contemporary creations converse across the sections, notably drawn from the collections of the Musée des Métiers de la Chaussure, the Belgian museum Shoes Or No Shoes, and multiple loans from houses and designers. Alaïa, Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Louboutin, Maison Margiela, Moschino, Puma, Rabanne, Roger Vivier or Vivienne Westwood punctuate the journey.
And the exhibition doesn’t stop at the shape of the shoe: it also traces everything it leaves in its wake. Empreintes watches the marks stamped by our soles, Parure treats the shoe as an ornament, Transparence plays with what it reveals or hides, while Résonance tunes in to the sound of our steps thanks to the sonic works of composer Olivier Hazemann and the work of sound designer Claire André. The shoe thus appears, at once, as a technical object, a social marker, an instrument of representation and a material for creation.
Final showcase with ESMOD International. Thirteen students reimagined the moccasin, with ten prototypes on display in the Draft section. The design by Camille Laveran, winner of the Spring 2026 Prize, also earns a shop window on Boulevard Haussmann and a co-branded edition with Saison 1865.
From clogs to dizzying heels, from sneakers to sculptural footwear, Printemps follows the shoe in all its guises.
