Curieux Transfo has a virtual crush: a cultural aperitif gathering

Published by Contenu Offert · Updated on November 25, 2025 at 04:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, December 2, at 7 p.m., Transfo, the Emmaüs Solidarité cultural center, invites you to its cultural aperitif with a touch of cabaret.

For its latest edition, Curieux Transfo welcomes anthropologist and writer Agnès Giard. Together with her, we will explore new forms of desire and love that combine technology and imagination.

Less conventional, these "parasocial" relationships, which favor digital avatars, love dolls, or virtual crushes, liberate feelings and sex from overly oppressive traditions, particularly in Japan.

During the evening, Sucre d'orge, a Parisian figure of retro striptease and burlesque cabaret, will dazzle us with her feather fans and delightful sex appeal.

The solidarity aperitif will be prepared that evening by the residents of the Faubourg Saint-Denis shelter.

Copies of Agnès Giard's book, Les Amours artificiels au Japon. Flirts virtuels et fiancées imaginaires (ed. Albin Michel, 2025), will be on sale, in partnership with the independent bookstore Le Genre Urbain.

Free admission, subject to availability.

About the guests:

Agnès Giard is a French anthropologist, writer, and journalist. A research associate at the University of Paris Nanterre, her research focuses on the emotional simulation industry in the context of Japan's depopulation.

A Parisian figure of retro striptease, Sucre d'Orge embodies a chic, sparkling, poetic, and mischievous burlesque. From Marie-Antoinette's hoop skirts to latex riding outfits, she joyfully traverses eras and styles. Her favorite accessory? Her feather fans, with which she loves to dance almost naked.

Curieux Transfo is a monthly gathering that embraces curiosity and inclusivity.

Every first Tuesday of the month, in a friendly and subdued atmosphere, Curieux Transfo tackles an original theme with two guests. One is chosen for their unique thinking. The other, for their cabaret act.

The idea is to spend an hour together discovering and enjoying.

The event is designed and hosted by Céline du Chéné, author and documentary filmmaker at France Culture.

The aperitif, prepared in a spirit of solidarity, is made by people supported by Emmaüs Solidarité.

In other words, Curieux Transfo is a cultural aperitif gathering with a touch of cabaret!
