Every year, the Champions Trophy final is played abroad at the start of the season. In 2023, however, the Ligue de Football Professionnel had great difficulty in finding a country to host the match, after Thailand pulled out. In the end, the match will take place in France, at the Parc des Princes, Paris-Saint-Germain's home stadium, again in the final, this time against Toulouse. See you on January 3, 2024, in the 16th arrondissement, on Prime Video or in the bars of the capital!
As a reminder, the Trophée des Champions is a meeting between the winner of the Coupe de France and the winner of the Championnat de France, the latter having been won for several years by the same club. This time, there's no time difference, with the match kicking off at 8.45pm, but it promises to be quieter than usual, as Paris-Saint-Germain fans have announced a boycott of the match, accusing the LFP of"selling the eventto the highest bidder".
Other reasons given for the decision included the fees imposed by the governing body (25 euros) and the treatment of supporters in France. The two clubs, one qualified for the Champions League, the other for the Europa League play-offs, will therefore not face each other on neutral ground this year.
