World number 2 Coco Gauff won the French Open for the first time in her career against Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, after an intense match for both players.

What a victory! Coco Gauff won her first-ever French Open on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Paris. The French Open ladies' tournament ended with victory for the world number 2, in a hard-fought match against world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus (7-6, 2-6, 4-6). The 21-year-old American was playing in only the second clay-court final of her career.

Already in the final in 2022, Coco Gauff had lost to the great Iga Swiatek, but this year, she seized her chance in a very fine final, masterfully handled in the face of the Belarusian's many errors. The player who beat our courageous Frenchwoman in the semi-finals has won all her opponents at this tournament in two sets, except her compatriot Madison Keys. She is the first American to win a French Open final since legend Serena Williams in 2015.

She thus moves to the top of the rankings ahead of her opponent of the day, at the end of a final with an unprecedented line-up. Tomorrow, you can follow the men's final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, starting at 3pm.
