In April 2023, France submitted its bid to host the European Swimming Championships in 2026. This Wednesday, January 24, the French Swimming Federation announced that the event would be held in Paris in two years' time!

After the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, the capital will host the European Swimming Championships in 2026! Last year, the French Swimming Federation made official France's bid for the 100th anniversary of the competition, which was born in 1926. It's safe to say that the 2020s will have been a sporting year in Paris, between the Rugby World Cup, the Para-Athletics World Championships and the Olympic Games! This Wednesday, January 24, 2024, it's now official: swimming is coming to Paris!

The competition brings together over 1,100 athletes in five disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, synchronized swimming, diving and high diving. From July 25, 2026 to August 9, 2026, the Pont Alexandre III and the Olympic Aquatic Center will see Europe's best swimmers compete against each other, with our male hope Léon Marchand undoubtedly at his peak, along with our other elite athletes!

Built especially for the Paris Games, the Olympic Aquatic Centre (OAC) will once again be used for a major event, while the waters of the Seine will host the open water events. France hasn't been able to bring the European Championships back to the big pool since 1987, but this centenary should go down in sporting history!
