In 2024, Roland-Garros saw Rafael Nadal on its clay courts for the last time as a player. For this new edition, the tournament wants to celebrate its history and its champions, showcasing them in tributes and events. A true legend with 14 titles to his name, Rafael Nadal will be honored on Sunday May 25, 2025 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with a ceremony at the end of the three matches in the day's session.
An immersive and entertaining exhibition will also be dedicated to the champion throughout the tournament at the Tenniseum, from his debut in Paris in 2005 to his final moments at Roland-Garros."The idea is to have a vision for the future, but also to celebrate those who have thrilled us in the past, and there's bound to be a place among them for Rafael Nadal," said Amélie Mauresmo.
On June 5, between the two women's semi-finals, it's on center court that Mary Pierce 's 25th anniversary of double victory will be celebrated, as well as her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, with the presentation of the famous Prestige ring and trophy.
A tribute will also be paid to France's Richard Gasquet at the end of his last match, which is as yet unknown and hopefully as late as possible in the tournament, to celebrate his career after he recently announced his retirement.
