The Basketball World Cup heads to Paris for the first time in 2031!

Global basketball is about to touch down in France for a historic milestone. The Basketball World Cup will be hosted here in 2031, a first for us! Brace yourself for sixteen days of high-stakes competition as the sport’s international elite collide in decisive, must-watch clashes.
After the rugby World Cup in 2023, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the European swimming championships 2026 in Paris, or fencing 2026 in Antony, this year France has been chosen again to host another sport: basketball. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) did not wait to announce its choice for the next Basketball World Cup, which will thus take place on French soil in 2031, across the cities of Paris, Lyon and Lille.

This is the first time France is hosting this competition! If you’re a fan of this very American sport, save the dates now, because the World Cup will run from August 29 to September 17, 2031, with the final phase matches taking place in the heart of the capital. On the basketball front, we haven’t hosted an event of this scale since Euro 2015! A chance to welcome our amazing Victor Wembanyama to Paris and, who knows, to lift the trophy on our home soil?

In the meantime, you can still follow the clubs in the capital, or catch NBA games when they’re held in Paris!
