Paris 2024 Olympic Games: the most-watched Olympiad in history, 5 billion spectators

More than half the world's population watched the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. A record audience, making these the most-watched Games in history, ahead of those in London!

Cocorico, France has broken a new record! Up until now, the English have held the highest audience figures for their Olympic Games in London in 2012, but this year, in 2024, Paris has done better! As a reminder, according to the UN, the world's population stands at 8.2 billion. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games brought together nearly 5 billion of them , according to Thomas Bach, IOC President, meaning more than half the planet with its eyes riveted on the capital this summer!

A staggering figure, which joins the 12 million tickets sold, also a record. While many French people feared a disastrous Games, in the end the opposite was true, with a real success on an international scale. According to the International Olympic Committee,"the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were the most-watched in history", relying on independent research, with"84% of the potential audience" reached and an average of nine hours of viewing per spectator.

It's enough to put the pressure on the Americans for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028! Will they manage to do better than our events in the heart of Parisian monuments? The answer in four years' time!
