A wind from Canada's Far North is about to blow through the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Artist Elisapie, from Salluit in Nunavik, announces her appearance at Les Trois Baudets on Wednesday November 15, 2023, to present tracks from her sublime new album entitled "Inuktitut".

Elisapie takes us on a fabulous musical journey. The Canadian artist, born in Salluit, Nunavik, has announced a series of concerts in France this autumn. In addition to stops in Saint-Malo, Brest and Nantes, Elisapie also plans to enchant her Parisian fans with a unique show scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Les Trois Baudets.

On the program? An immersion in the Canadian Far North, thanks to the sublime covers reinterpreted and sung by Elisapie in Inuktitut (her mother tongue) and taken from her latest opus. Released on September 15, 2023, the"Inuktitut" album unveils no fewer than 10 tracks, all considered rock and pop classics from the 60s to the 90s. These include Queen's " I Want to Break Free ", renamed " Qimatsilunga ", Blondie's " Heart of Glass ", giving rise to " Uummati Attanarsimat ", Pink Floyd's legendary " Wish You Were Here ", here entitled " Qaisimalaurittuq ", and Patrick Hernandez's astonishing " Born to Be Alive " (" Inuuniaravit ").

And what about the incredible cover of Metallica's " The Unforgiven ", renamed " Isumagijunnaitaungituq "? A powerful, touching track, offered here in a pared-down version (banjo, percussion, qilaut...), where we're happy to listen to Katajjaq, the famous Inuit throat singing. In a post published on her social networks on June 27, Elisapie revealed that she had interviewed Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett when she was just 15 and working for TNI, the first Inuit television and radio company.

It was a defining moment for the young girl, who was listening to " The Unforgiven " with her friends at the time, " trying to forget the heaviness, as if this song told the story of Inuit men and the repression they suffered ".

With this fascinating album, the Canadian singer-songwriter and activist pays tribute to her people, making their language and culture resonate beyond the borders of Inuit territory.

To crown this evening, scheduled for November 15 2023 at Les Trois Baudets as part of the 10-year anniversary of the Yotanka label, the artist Mesparrow will be opening forElisapie. This will be an opportunity for the French singer to review her latest opus,"Monde Sensible", released in 2021. A new album is scheduled for release in spring 2024.
