Artists rally to help victims of the fires ravaging Los Angeles. While firefighters are still trying to contain the blazes, which have already claimed the lives of at least 25 people, a major charity concert is being planned in California. Called FireAid, the event is scheduled for January 30, 2025, at two different venues in the City of Angels: the Forum and the Intuit Dome.
With the aim of raising as much money as possible for the victims of the disaster, FireAid will bring together a number of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, Pink, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, No Doubt, Joni Mitchell and Rod Stewart, not forgetting youngsters Gracie Abrams and Tate McRae. Sting will also be there, as will the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day. Other artists added to this XXL line-up include Anderson .Paak, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, John Fogerty and Alanis Morissette.
This solidarity concert, co-organized by Live Nation, will be broadcast in the United States in selected cinemas. FireAid also announces that the event will be available on several streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Max, Paramount+, Netflix, Prime Video, as well as on iHeartRadio and Youtube. Please note that the concert is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on site, i.e. at 3 a.m. Paris time.
As FireAid points out on its website, this evening of music and solidarity will be " dedicated to rebuilding communities devastated by wildfires ". Donations raised will also be distributed " to short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future wildfires throughout Southern California ".
A number of celebrities have recently made substantial donations to help the victims of these fires. American thrash metal band Metallica donated $500,000 via its All Within my Hands foundation. Beyoncé donated $2.5 million to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million to help the victims.
