Paris: two Fest-noz organized this weekend to support the Mission bretonne, threatened with closure

It's a well-known venue for Bretons and lovers of Breton culture. Located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, the Mission bretonne is organizing two Fest-noz events this weekend. The aim? To raise as many donations as possible to help this historic cultural center, now threatened with closure.

Will the Mission bretonne have to close its doors? As reported in Le Parisien, this cultural center, located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris and dedicated to Breton culture, is looking for funding to carry out major asbestos removal work. Failure to do so could result in the building's closure. According to the daily, the venue is " on probation until June, when it will be required to vacate the premises ".

The Mission bretonne, which manages the 400 m² premises on rue Delambre, is organizing two major Fest-noz events this weekend. The first Fest-noz takes place this Saturday, March 1, 2025, starting at 3pm in the salle des fêtes of the XIVe arrondissement town hall. The second Fest-noz takes place on Sunday March 2, also at 3pm. But it will take place at the Mission bretonne, rue Delambre, in the 14th arrondissement. On the program? Music and dance with Bob Duo, Kreiz Breizh Orchestra, Deskomp, Avel, Ar Gazeg Veurzh and Re an Are. Prices: 15 euros on Saturday and 10 euros on Sunday (full price) or 20 euros for both days.

Enora Burlot, President of the Mission bretonne, announces " two days of festivities to enable us to continue promoting Breton culture in Paris. Two days with artists from Brittany and Ile-de-France for whom the Mission bretonne counts ".

The Mission bretonne has also launched an online fundraising campaign to help finance the asbestos removal work. As the association, founded in 1947, points out, these " major asbestos removal and upgrading works " are necessary " to be able to continue to welcome the public ". The Mission bretonne is looking for €500,000. " We may own the building, but we don't have the cash to meet this new challenge ", explains the association, which warns that " if we don't manage to achieve this objective, the Mission bretonne, the historic association of Paris Bretons, will disappear ".
