In February 2026, British rock star and former Police frontman Sting returns to Paris with his musical "The Last Ship", which opens at La Seine Musicale on February 18, according to Le Parisien. This show, conceived as a tribute to the shipyards of Newcastle, the artist's hometown, will plunge us into the social upheavals linked to the closure of these industrial sites. Originally released in 2013 as a concept album, The Last Ship was adapted as a musical in 2014.
Sting, who grew up in the shadow of Newcastle's great ships, draws on his memories to tell the story of a working-class community facing the demise of its industry. Although the show enjoyed only limited success in its Broadway debut, it was hailed for its sincerity and emotional depth. Since then, it has been presented in several countries, including Denmark, and continues to evolve with each new performance.
The Paris version of The Last Ship promises to be unique, with adjustments made by Sting himself to suit the French audience. La Seine Musicale, located on the Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, offers the ideal setting for this show combining music, theater and social commitment.
In parallel with this musical, Sting continues his STING 3.0 world tour, with concerts scheduled at theAccor Arena in Paris on October 9, 2025 and at theArena Sud de France in Montpellier on October 11, 2025. These trio performances recall the raw energy of The Police's early days, and offer a fresh take on the artist's classics.
And if you're a fan of musicals, other shows on the program for 2026 include Black Legends at La Seine Musicale and Monte Cristo at Les Folies Bergère. In short, there's no end of great discoveries to be made. All we have to do now is wait for the box office launch, scheduled for June 11, for what promises to be an exceptional show.
