The 42nd MTV Video Music Awards were held at the UBS Arena in New York on Sunday, September 7, 2025. For the occasion, numerous awards were presented, including to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. But the ceremony was also marked by a series of performances, including this tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22 at the age of 76.
For this musical tribute to the 'Prince of Darkness' and memorable leader of Black Sabbath, the organizers of the MTV Video Music Awards invited the singer and Aerosmith guitarists Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and Yungblud.
The young British singer thrilled everyone with his brilliant cover of Black Sabbath's"Changes" at Ozzy Osbourne's farewell concert in Birmingham on July 5. On that day, Yungblud was joined by Nuno Bettencourt, Sleep Token drummer II and Adam Wakeman.
Deeply affected by Ozzy Osbourne's death, which occurred less than three weeks before this huge concert in Birmingham, Yungblud wrote on his social networks: " Singing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you in front of a crowd that loved you was truly the greatest honor of my life. "
On September 7, 2025, Yungblud paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne once again. With Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Nuno Bettencourt, the supergroup performed"Crazy Train","Mama, I'm Coming Home" and"Changes". For those who can't make it, check out this performance and tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
In addition to this tribute to the Black Sabbath singer, the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony also featured performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter and J Balvin.
