On September 22 last year, the Centre Pompidou officially closed its doors for a five-year renovation. To mark the occasion, the iconic Paris landmark pulled out all the stops. On October 22, 24 and 25, the museum offered Parisians one last, festive rendezvous—a 48-hour party blending a pyrotechnic performance with a grand celebration staged by the record label Because.
Since then, every time you pass by the cultural building, you can’t help but think of the past exhibitions and dread the long wait until it reopens in 2030. But the Centre Pompidou has decided to keep you entertained in the meantime by opening, in spring 2027, the Centre Pompidou Francilien in Massy, Essonne.
And before that highly anticipated inauguration, another date awaits art lovers of the Centre Pompidou. To mark its 50th anniversary, the monument teams up with the Philharmonie de Paris and announces the event "Beaubourg, My Love: 50 Years of the Centre Pompidou". For two days, on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30, 2027, the public will be invited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the modern and contemporary art museum in fitting style.
For the occasion, Beaubourg will spill into the spaces of the Philharmonie de Paris and the nearby Cité de la Musique. Filmmusic concerts, rock and electronic sounds, contemporary writings, spoken poetry, clubbing, Dada cabaret at the Musée de la Musique, and sound creations from Ircam will rhythm these two festive days. Note that the full program will be unveiled in September 2026, while tickets go on sale starting Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Recall that Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers’s iconic building opened its doors on January 31, 1977. Today, the Centre Pompidou is renowned for housing one of the world’s two largest collections of modern and contemporary art. Now undergoing a major transformation, Beaubourg is set to reopen in 2030.
