Ben Harper Q&A Session

Tuesday, April 20, 2027 at 6:30 PM – Conference Hall – Philharmonie de Paris / Duration: about 1 hour 30 minutes
Lectures will be available to reserve starting Tuesday, May 5 at 12:00 PM.

The singer, songwriter and musician Ben Harper, renowned for a sound that blends folk, blues, rock, soul and reggae, is also a devotee of instruments crafted by luthier Weissenborn. He is, in fact, a major collector of guitars from this maker. Beyond his virtuosity, Ben Harper is a politically engaged artist. Notably, the track "Black Rain" was written in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and the piece "Where Did We Go Wrong" speaks to the nuclear threat.

On April 20, 2027, the American artist will be on hand to talk about his music, his passion for Weissenborn instruments, and his various commitments.

In 2027, Ben Harper will also take the stage at the Philharmonie, or rather at the Cité de la musique, with an installation to be unveiled in the heart of the collection of the Musée de la musique. This piece will reveal the richness of his sonic universe and his passion for the instruments crafted by Weissenborn. This brand de guitares hawaïennes tient son nom de son inventeur Herman Weissenborn, luthier allemand émigré aux États-Unis. Its design is singulière, with a resonator box extended all the way to the head and the use of koa wood, a native Hawaiian timber.

As a true enthusiast, Ben Harper has built a remarkable collection of Weissenborns that he regularly takes on stage. His assortment includes lap steels, ukuleles, mandolins, and, of course, guitars. From March 3 to August 29, 2027, Harper will showcase his personal Weissenborn collection at the Musée de la musique. It’s an opportunity for the American artist to share the richness of his musical and artisanal heritage.
