Discover "La Haine", Mathieu Kassovitz's cult film revisited as an immersive stage experience, at La Seine Musicale in October 2024.

In 1995, Mathieu Kassovitz unveiled La Haine, a gripping fresco of suburban youth that catalyzed passions and became a beacon of French cinema. Almost 30 years later, this work is back in the spotlight, but this time on the stage of La Seine Musicale.

La Haine was awarded the Prix de la mise en scène at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. The film was not only celebrated at the Césars, but also by world-famous personalities such as Steven Spielberg. Rapper A$AP Rocky, actor Cillian Murphy and even superstar Rosalía have all expressed their admiration for this iconic achievement.

In October 2024, the magic of La Haine will be reinvented. With a live, immersive format, Mathieu Kassovitz returns to show that the film's essence and message remain relevant, especially at a time when suburban culture is still struggling for real recognition.

The original film focused on three young people, Vinz, Said and Hubert, confronted with a tumultuous daily life. It portrayed a brutal reality while highlighting love, solidarity and friendship. Today, the show aims to capture that same energy, using protagonists from working-class neighborhoods, actively questioning contemporary society.

The innovative aspect of this show is based on 15 tableaux inspired by the film. These tableaux, revised by Mathieu Kassovitz, will be projected using a breathtaking projection system. They will be combined with the sets and the actors' performances on stage, offering an immersive, cinematic experience.

Add to this the elaborate choreography of Yaman Okur and Emilie Capel, and the show promises to be a masterpiece. The mix of dance, film, rap, theater and live performance offers an augmented perspective on the film, anchored in both the 90s and the present.

Mathieu Kassovitz has declared,"We still have things to say!" And by adapting La Haine for the stage, he not only offers a new vision of his work, but also continues to value and support suburban culture.

For those wishing to relive or discover La Haine in this unique format, La Seine Musicale will host this new work from October 10, 2024. Tickets will be available from 10am on October 20, 2023. An opportunity not to be missed for an unforgettable journey through a timeless French work.
