La Seine Musicale will be staging a beautiful event combining reading and music for 6 evenings only. From January 19 to 25, 2024, the famous concert and performance venue in Boulogne-Billancourt opens its doors to Audrey Tautou for this creation entitled " Charlotte ".
The famous French actress and comedienne, who made her name in 1999 with " Vénus Beauté ", and was subsequently seen in many other successful films (" Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain ", " Un long dimanche de fiançailles ", " Da Vinci Code ", " L'Auberge Espagnole ", " Coco avant Chanel ", " L'Écume des jours "...), is making her comeback to the stage after several years' absence.
As a reminder, the last timeAudrey Tautou made a name for herself in the theater was in 2011, for her role as Nora in Henrik Ibsen's " A Doll's House ", directed by Michel Fau. 13 years later, the actress returns to the stage with " Charlotte ", a creation based on the life of painter Charlotte Salomon, after the famous novel " Charlotte " by David Foenkinos. Published in 2014, the book has sold over 1 million copies! A finalist for the Prix Goncourt, the novel even won the Prix Renaudot and the Goncourt des lycéens.
For this show, to be staged at La Seine Musicale in 2024, author David Foenkinos has not hesitated to rewrite his text for a unique musical reading, in which the life of the famous German painter Charlotte Salomon, who was born in Berlin in 1917 and died in Auschwitz at the age of 26, while pregnant, is reconstructed.
Directed by Jérémie Lippmann, the show is at once literary, musical and pictorial. Works by Charlotte Salomon will be projected live on stage, as Audrey Tautou reads along with the music.
