If you're familiar with Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, this author has always lived with music in his life, and testifies to this in great books paying tribute to the great composers he appreciates.

"Ma vie avec Mozart" (My life with Mozart),"Le Mystère Bizet" (The Bizet Mystery),"Quand je pense que Beethoven est mort alors que tant de crétins vivent" (When I think Beethoven is dead while so many idiots live on) and "Madame Pylinska et le secret de Chopin" (Madame Pylinska and Chopin's secret) are all philosophical books that make you want to immerse yourself in classical music. Books read by the author and accompanied by music are also available, and a live version of"Madame Pylinska et le secret de Chopin" will be performed in Paris in September 2020.

In this autobiographical novel, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitttakes us back to his youth, when he met Chopin through Madame Pylinska.

This Polish teacher has a funny way of teaching piano: she asks her pupil to lie down under the instrument, to listen to the silence, to pick flowers at dawn, to follow the wind in the trees, to make love slowly and, above all, to love life. For her, "music is first and foremost a physical experience. Since the stingy only listen with their ears, be prodigal: listen with your whole body.

A great orator, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt is accustomed to the one-man stage, where he passionately recounts his novels and his life. He explains his novel:
"In the middle of the family living room sat a dark piano that my older sister regularly tortured. Then, one day, a woman sat down in front of the piece of furniture and played enchanting sounds: time stopped, light invaded the room, and the breath of silence could be heard. What had happened? Chopin...

All my life, I've been searching for the secret of that moment, when I was ten years old.Passionate, I learned music and studied the piano, but Chopin always eluded me, even though he pulsated under fingers other than my own.

Where does the astonishing benefit he brings to our souls come from?
Where does he take us?

At the age of twenty-five, when I met a completely eccentric Polish piano teacher, Madame Pylinska, I hunted down Chopin's secret."

For almost 2 hours, the author takes you on a poetic journey, to the music of Chopin played by Nicolas Stavy, winner of the Special Prize at the 2000 Chopin Competition in Warsaw.

In September 2020, get ready to experience a great moment, between theater and piano recital.
