L’Embarras du choix, an interactive comedy by Sébastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino, continues its run at the Gaîté Montparnasse in Paris. The play, nominated for the Molière Award for Best Comedy in 2022, is slated for the 2025-2026 season, with performances through August 29, 2026.
The tale follows Max, 35, as he grapples with an existential crisis. Faced with choices in his love life, career, friendships, and family, he looks to the audience for guidance. The spectators become his interlocutors and shape the rest of the story as the performance unfolds.
The premise of L’Embarras du choix rests on an interactive theatre mechanism: each performance can shift based on the responses and choices made in the room. This approach extends Sébastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino’s taste for playful formats, following notably La Dame Blanche, Dernier coup de ciseaux or Mission Florimont.
The 2026 lineup will feature a rotating cast, including Sébastien Azzopardi, Amaya Carreté, Julie Desbruères, Jean-Baptiste Darosey, Thomas Perrin, Augustin de Monts, Delphin Lacroix, Patrice Latronche, Thierry Lanckriet, and Lorna Roudil. The Gaîté Montparnasse lists a running time of 1 hour 40 minutes, with no intermission.
Performances run Tuesday through Saturday at 9:00 PM, with additional shows on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 PM.
