Fabrice Luchini reads Victor Hugo: extended run at Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin

Calling all literature fans! At the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin, Fabrice Luchini will present a reading of texts and poems by the emblematic figure of French Romanticism: Victor Hugo. From February 9 to April 29, 2025, we invite you to immerse yourself in his literary works.

Fabrice Luchini, the French actor who won the César for Best Supporting Actor in 1994 under the direction of Claude Lelouch, will be on stage to read and perform some of Victor Hugo's classic works. Having first read the texts in June 2021, in the gardens of the Maison de Chateaubriand, and then at the Théâtre du Petit Saint-Martin in 2023, the actor is now proposing a third public reading, first at the Théâtre de l'Atelier at the end of 2024 and now at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin. It's a pure reading of texts that he'll be performing, as well as poems and commentaries by writers such as Charles Baudelaire and Charles Péguy .

Victor Hugo, whose house can be visited on the Place des Vosges, is an emblem of19th-century French Romanticism. Today, he is counted among the greatest authors of French literature. His plays include Hernani, Cromwell, Ruy Blas, the novels Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris, as well as collections of poems including Les Contemplations. His legacy, as vast as it is inescapable, deserves to be rediscovered during readings at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin by Fabrice Luchini .
