Île-de-France celebrates theater 2026: the free festival marks its tenth anniversary.

After a 2025 edition that moved into Île-de-France’s leisure islands with free outdoor programming, L’Île-de-France fête le théâtre returns for a anniversary edition. From July 3 to August 5, 2026, the Île-de-France Region offers a new free edition of this festival staged by Tréteaux de France – National Drama Center. This year marks the 10-year milestone for the event, which continues to pursue its goal of bringing live theatre as close as possible to Franciliennes and Franciliens on the leisure islands.

The festival will stop at three venues across Île-de-France:

• Créteil Leisure Island, from July 3 to 6, 2026
• Port aux Cerises Leisure Island, from July 21 to 26, 2026
• Cergy-Pontoise Leisure Island, from July 31 to August 5, 2026

To mark its 10th edition, the festival is highlighting several new works as well as shows that will continue touring to other festivals and cultural venues in the months ahead.

The opening night kicks off on July 3 in Créteil with Perceptions from the Bivouac company. This aerial circus performance brings together five acrobats and a musician around the Oculaire, a metal framework inspired by science-fiction worlds.

Among the productions to note is Mauvais joueurs by Mehdi Kerkouche, created with first-year students of the Académie Fratellini. Part dance, part circus, this piece reimagines the game of musical chairs and will be staged in Créteil on July 4 and 5.

Audiences will also get a chance to discover Oiseau [Guide de survie], the new KiLLT (Ki Lira Le Texte) from Tréteaux de France, set to tour from Port aux Cerises to Cergy-Pontoise. Families with young children will also be able to enjoy Liteul Pipol by Théâtre Désaccordé, a puppetry-and-dance production suitable for ages 18 months and up.

The program also features Harold the Game, a creation by Vélo Théâtre and Bob Théâtre inspired by the Battle of Hastings, as well as several shows already on the summer festival circuit, such as Des danses et des luttes, Gagarine is not dead, 95% Mortel or Gadoue.

As in previous editions, the performances unfold outdoors or under temporary structures at the heart of the leisure islands, giving visitors the chance to combine outdoor activities with live theater throughout the summer.
