The Théâtre des Amandiers celebrates its reopening from October 25 to November 2, 2025 with a free or accessible program combining theater, DJ set and film-concert.

Directed by Christophe Rauck since 2021, the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers, Centre dramatique national de Nanterre, reopens its doors after four years of renovation. Entirely renovated by the Norwegian agency Snøhetta, the building now offers modernized spaces, a new 200-seat auditorium, as well as a bookshop and restaurant open to the outside world. The reopening will take place over two successive weekends, from October 25 to 26 and from October 31 to November 2, in a setting that combines artistic excellence with a popular atmosphere.

The first weekend, entitled La tête dans les nuages, honors Nanterre 's youth through a participatory project conceived by Anne-Sophie Robin, Nicolas Sene, Noham Selcer and Le Birgit Ensemble. The shows Page 92 and Nemetodorum give a voice to children and teenagers from Petit Nanterre to Tours Nuages. At the same time, MomA, a creation by Norwegian duo Toril Goksøyr and Camilla Martens, offers a huis clos combining visual art and sound immersion around intergenerational links and artistic freedoms. In the evening, Barocco, directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, combines theater, dance, baroque music and video in a multi-disciplinary form driven by a committed aesthetic.

The second weekend kicks off with FaustX, a contemporary, post-colonial retelling of Goethe's Faust II by South African Brett Bailey. The show features a techno oligarch wandering through a ruined world, against a backdrop of megalomania and political drift. On Friday evening, the Grande Salle hosts an electro evening co-produced with Tsugi magazine, followed on Sunday by a cine-concert for the general public, Le Roi Lavra & Inspirace, performed by the Orchestre de Spectacle de Montreuil. Scripted tours, designed by Noham Selcer with actors from the École du Nord and the Belle Troupe des Amandiers, also enable visitors to discover the theater's nooks and crannies through a poetic, offbeat itinerary.

This program is aimed at a wide audience, from curious families to contemporary theater fans. The participatory shows, scripted tours and film-concert are suitable for children and teenagers. The works by Serebrennikov and Bailey, with their denser themes and forms, are more appealing to audiences familiar with contemporary writing. On the other hand, fans of classic dramaturgies or more traditional stagings may find this artistic proposal less appealing. The festive events and electro evening further extend the welcome to an intergenerational audience.

The reopening of the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers marks a high point in Nanterre's cultural season, with a program rooted in the region, combining scenic experimentation and a renewed sense of conviviality.
