The Taste of Raspberry, a play by Raphaële Volkoff directed by Martin Darondeau, runs at the Théâtre des Béliers Parisiens from August 29, 2026, to January 3, 2027. This contemporary play traces the intersecting paths of two women, between the closed world of a detention center and the vastness of space.
The story opens in the summer of 1998. Stella, 19, is incarcerated and forced to share her cell with an older woman whose presence unsettles her footing. In tandem, the narrative shifts to autumn 1975, where Marcelle, a young astrophysics researcher, fights to push her work forward in an environment that seems determined not to give her a place.
From these two timelines, Le Goût de la framboise links confinement, transmission, and the possibility of emancipation through knowledge. The play thus pairs a tangible prison setting with a scientific imagination rooted in astrophysics, following characters who are confronted with social, physical, or intimate limits.
The show is written by Raphaële Volkoff, who also appears in the cast. The direction is by Martin Darondeau, the writer and co-director of the film De la Comédie-Française. On stage, the play brings together Laura Authier, Benoît Blanc, Machita Daly, Octavie Durand, Nanou Garcia and Raphaële Volkoff.
With a running time listed as 1 hour 20 minutes, The Taste of Raspberry is aimed at audiences aged 12 and up. In Paris, the show is scheduled at Théâtre des Béliers Parisiens, in the 18th arrondissement, from August 29, 2026, to January 3, 2027.
