In the heart of Paris, the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine, located in the Palais de Chaillot, faces Gustave Eiffel's most famous work, the Eiffel Tower. Discover a retrospective that traces the engineer's intimate relationship with the City of Light. A relationship that goes far beyond his famous iron lady, who sometimes overshadowed other achievements. The exhibition highlights the rich and diverse legacy that Gustave Eiffel left on the Parisian landscape.

In this exploration of Gustave Eiffel's Paris, we discover:

  • A detailed map of where he lived and worked,
  • His often little-known projects for Paris,
  • The capital's influence on his private and professional life,
  • His encounters with the great personalities of his time, including Auguste Bartholdi, Eugène-Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc and Charles Garnier.

The importance of Gustave Eiffel's scientific research is also highlighted, as he devoted over thirty years of his life to fields such as aerodynamics, aeronautics and meteorology. We can even discover his office, with its original furniture, reconstructed thanks to loans from the Eiffel aerodynamics laboratory.

This immersion in the Paris of Gustave Eiffel is a unique opportunity to rediscover the capital through the eyes of this engineer, whose imprint remains firmly anchored in the city's modernity.
