Here's an exhibition that should awaken the child in all of us. Le Hangar Y invites all generations to come together in this strange toy store, for an exhibition that's both playful and educational, exploring the games of yesterday and today, and their impact on society.
From May 18 to September 22, 2024, stroll through Rayon Jouets, an exhibition that blends contemporary art and history, in an immersive, ultra-playful scenography.
Play is part of culture: toys and playful practices reflect the beliefs, habits and customs of an era and a country. Play is also a way of forging links and learning key elements of life in society. This exhibition highlights these links between toy objects and the social and cultural systems behind them.
To this end, you can admire and interact with 50 works by contemporary artists, and over 80 ancient toys, some of which date back to the 2nd millennium BC! Carts and rattles, goose games, dolls and figurines, miniature trains, building bricks, masquerade costume: these toys have evolved through the ages. The learning process, the standards shown and the skills required are not the same: we also see thechild 's place change and grow through the objects that symbolize them.
To appeal to the youngest (in spirit or age), Hangar Y wanted to set up a scenography as playful as these works. The exhibition space is thus transformed into a giant, colorful and interactive toy store: toys and secret passages are hidden in the chests and walls...
Contemporary artists also contribute to this playful aspect: paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, video games... That's right: some works are interactive and dynamic, to give the public a more immersive and unusual experience.

The hangar is open from 10am to 8pm on weekends and public holidays, and from 11am to 7pm on weekdays during school vacations (zone C).
