The Musée Vivant du fromage opens its doors in Paris, in the 4ᵉ arrondissement, this June 3, 2024. A unique immersive and interactive experience is the promise of this new venue, which will showcase our French culinary and terroir heritage.

Attention all fans of comté, camembert, chèvre, morbier, Saint-Nectaire and even maroilles... the Musée du Fromage is about to open its doors in Paris. From June 3, 2024, the capital will welcome its first cheese museum to the heart ofIle-Saint-Louis in the 4th arrondissement. Spearheaded by Paroles de Fromagers and its founder Pierre Brisson, this one-of-a-kind project in Paris aims to celebrate France's rich cheese heritage and its artisans.

A window onto the world of cheese

The Musée du Fromage promises total immersion in the world of cheese, with a proposal combining an interactive exhibition gallery, educational spaces, and even a dairy where cheese will be produced before visitors' very eyes. The aim is twofold: to introduce visitors to the riches of the French terroir, and to encourage young people to take up the profession, given the shortage of applicants in the industry.

An educational and sensory tour

The museum is organized into an educational trail that begins with the culture of cheese, continues with the secrets of its manufacture and ends on a gourmet note with an immersive tasting session. Yes, we love this part of the experience already! Each stage is designed to highlight the caseology, ancestral know-how and unrivalled diversity of French cheeses.

A response to industry challenges

In addition to its role as a cultural showcase, the Musée du Fromage aims to play an active role in addressing the challenges facing the industry, particularly the lack of interest among young people in the cheese professions. By offering an interactive and educational space, the museum hopes to renew the link between city dwellers and cheese-producing regions, and inspire a new generation of cheese-makers.

A long-awaited opening

Located on the premises of the former "Nos Ancêtres Les Gaulois" restaurant, the museum aims to become an essential meeting place for cheese lovers, the curious and industry professionals alike. With this opening, Paris reinforces its status as world capital of tourism and gastronomy, by offering a new space dedicated to one of its finest culinary traditions.

How do I get there, and how much does it cost?

The museum is located at 39 rue Saint-Louis en l'Ile in the 4th arrondissement. You can get there by metro, Saint-Paul station on line 1 and Pont-Marie on line 7. Tickets are already on sale, and cost €20 for adults and €10 for children.

In short, it smells good around here, doesn't it? Or not... but we can't wait to discover, dive in, learn and taste cheeses from all our regions.
