Le Décryptage de l'art de rue: a free exhibition dedicated to street art in Val-de-Marne

Discover the history of street art at a free exhibition on three floors of the Villa Médicis in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (94). Join us from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, June 9, 2024 to decipher street art through the works on display by some of the biggest names in the business, including Invader, Banksy, Miss. Tic, JR, Seth, Hopare, JonOne and Speedy Graphito.

Attention street art fans! The history of urban art is told in a new, free exhibition to be discovered this spring in the Val-de-Marne. From Saturday May 4 to Sunday June 9, 2024, the Maison des arts et de la culture - Villa Médicis, located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, opens its doors to the exhibition " Le décryptage de l'art de rue " .

For a little over a month, urban art lovers and the curious are invited to this Parisian venue to admire the works of several big names in the field, including Invader, who is currently exhibiting in Paris, the mysterious and inescapable Banksy, the late Miss. Tic, or globe-painter Seth, known for his frescoes of faceless children. Works by several other talented street artists are also announced, including JR, Hopare, JonOne, Felipe Pantone, Speedy Graphito and Jordane Saget... In all, 115 works by 115 of the genre's leading street artists are on display. All on three floors of the Villa Médicis!

Through an " immersive " itinerary, the exhibition aims to retrace the history of street art, from its origins to its most recent expressions. On the first floor, the pioneers of the movement, their techniques and their messages, are on display. On the second floor, the installation shows the extent to which urban art continues to question society. Finally, on the second floor of Villa Medici, visitors can discover a new generation of street artists!

Behind this"institutional" exhibition are the town of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and Urban Signature. Described as " France's leading bespoke street art company ", Urban Signature has already been behind a number of fine installations in the capital in recent years. These include works by Sax, Vinie and Hopare. This time around, Urban Signature is crossing the ring road to offer a brand-new artistic event that is sure to delight the eyes of urban art enthusiasts.

In other good news, the exhibition will be punctuated by several events, including lectures and live painting by Sax on Saturday May 4 from 3pm, and Crey 132 on Saturday June 8 from 3pm.

Don't miss the exhibition " Le décryptage de l'art de rue ", scheduled to run from May 4 to June 9, 2024 in the Val-de-Marne (opening 6pm May 3). Please note that admission to the exhibition is free from Tuesday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm (except on public holidays).
