L'Atelier des Lumières opens a special area for children and creative minds: at the back of the exhibition space, in place of the Studio, is now theAtelier des enfants. This unusual space allows visitors to extend their visit with a special creative activity for the little ones (and adults).
The Studio was a 160 m² room, featuring a bar for visitors to the Atelier. Located at the far end of the exhibition space, visitors could take time to sit and chat, while admiring an immersive digital creation. The Studio's programming often focused on contemporary art, and offered an unusual show.
The space is transformed into theAtelier des enfants, an immersive space where the walls come to life. There are living sets, inspired by the paintings presented in the large exhibition space. In the middle, tables with crayons and coloring pages. These drawings, also taken from the works on display next to them, can be colored in at visitors' leisure. The colorings are then scanned, and the works of artists great and small are displayed on the walls.
L'Atelier des enfants invites young visitors to take part in this artistic universe. Personalized colorings come to life on the walls of the Atelier, and wander around the room to the delight of their creators. Children can follow their drawings through the Atelier to an explanatory corner, which introduces the painter behind the exhibition, his world and his creations. It's a fun and educational way of introducing children to great artists and different artistic movements.
This new space is sound-enhanced and interactive: sounds linked to the décor are triggered when visitors touch an animal or a subject on the wall.
For its opening, the Atelier des Enfants is planning a program based on Douanier Rousseau. TheAtelier des Lumières team has chosen this fairy-tale jungle universe, which looks like something out of a children's book, to appeal to young audiences. A living jungle scene is projected onto the walls. Children can color animal drawings taken from the Douanier's paintings.
The Children's Workshop is accessible with the normal admission ticket for the Atelier des Lumières, at no extra charge. The venue is due to open on February 14, 2025, for an initial test phase with the public.
