70 years ago, the Maison du Danemark opened on theAvenue des Champs Elysées, marking the friendship between the two peoples. To celebrate this anniversary, an exhibition will retrace the history of this institute, a showcase for Danish know-how, from April 10 to May 2, 2025. Curious onlookers and aficionados of this Nordic country alike are invited to rediscover the influence of the Maison du Danemark through its programming since King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid inaugurated it in 1955 alongside René Coty.
Organized into three thematic sections, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time to relive some of the institute's most memorable moments, through press articles, photographs and video extracts. Danish art and design are also given pride of place, with a selection of works, objects and artists that some may remember if they have visited the Maison in recent years, including wooden figurines by Kay Bojesen, furniture by Finn Juhl, ceramics by Jean-René Gauguin and Bente Skjøttgaard, sculptures by Sonja Ferlov Mancoba and paintings by Peter Martensen.
The exhibition is accompanied by a series of conversations around architecture with exceptional guests on April 11, 15 and 22 at 7:00 pm. Take a look at the impact of this institute in the past, as recently with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and imagine what its programming will look like in the future!
