Artist and designer Marianna Kennedy draws inspiration from her materials and the craftsmanship of the great masters to create unique pieces featuring both modern and antique styles. A selection of the designer's works will be on show at Christie's Paris from May 5 to 11, 2025, with an exclusive free exhibition.
This exhibition was conceived by star Tilda Swinton, a long-time collector and admirer of Marianna Kennedy's pieces. The actress offers us aspecial retrospective , to help as many people as possible discover these colorful objects of art and decoration.
Entitled Supersonic Mediaeval, thefree exhibition looks back over almost 20 years of career, art and design. British artist Marianna Kennedy created her first sculptural mirrors in 2006, in her studio in Spitalfields, London's artistic district. Gilding, scrolls, floral motifs: these mirrors could adorn the walls of 18th- or 19th-century castles.
Along the way, you'll admire Marianna Kennedy's iconic pieces, which reflect the influence of London culture, and Spitalfields in particular. This neighborhood, where Georgian style blends with hipster fashion and is also popular with the Bangladeshi community, encapsulates London's rich history.
Ancient and modern, British and multicultural: the designer's works are born in the midst of these strong, often subtle and unconscious exchanges, which have shaped her worldview.
For this exhibition, Tilda Swinton wanted to create a special setting to highlight the singularity of each work. The scenography is reminiscent of a theater set, a warehouse where each object waits to be chosen to tell a new story, in a new room.
In May, hurry to Christie's Paris to discover the work of Marianna Kennedy, in the eye of artist Tilda Swinton.
