This is a key moment for all those who love the Cathedral Basilica of Saint-Denis: the monument will soon regain the spire that adorns its façade. The reconstruction project has been underway for several years now, and as a prelude to the work, craftsmen are showing off their skills to the public. From April 15 to the end of October, discover thehistory of the cathedral basilica and its spire and take part in numerous workshops to learn all about the trades of cathedral builders!
They are blacksmiths and stonecutters and they invite us to handle the hammer with them: try your hand at these very special crafts that have gone through history and shaped our heritage. Experience the technical gestures, the handling oftools, ores, or stones alongside specialists.
The one-hour workshop completes a one-hour guided tour to discover the history of this cathedralbasilica, a listed national monument. Take your children to the heart of the history of the cathedral builders and develop new skills all summer long thanks to the workshops offered by the team of the La Flèche construction site and the Centre des monuments nationaux.
