JEMA 2026: Moulin Rouge's Cabaret Showcases the Artisans Bringing Its Spectacles to Life

A world crafted from feathers, glitter... and a generous touch of craftsmanship. The Moulin Rouge is opening its workshops to visitors during the European Heritage Crafts Days on April 11 and 12, 2026.

Heritage gardener, carpenter, master glassmaker, sculptor and stonecutter, mosaic artist, decorative painter, jeweller, model maker... More than 280 professions are included in the official list of"métiers d'art": important and respectable occupations requiring exceptional skills.

These skilled artisans help keep French culture alive through their craft and dedication. Truly inspiring! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to meet these talented professionals with their extremely unique trades? That’s exactly what the European Heritage Crafts Days (JEMA) offer — a celebration in its 20th edition running from April 7 to 12, 2026, in Paris and across the Île-de-France region.

This annual event gives us the opportunity to visit different workshops, cultural and heritage sites, and to talk to the craftspeople who work there.

In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, hundreds of sites open their doors to us. Among them, a place that shines with a thousand lights, a place that makes tourists and Parisians alike dream: the Moulin Rouge! The famous cabaret takes us into its creative workshops, to discover those who help bring the magic of the show to life.

Stage costumes, featherwork, shoemaking, embroidery — the artisans of the Moulin Rouge are busy creating spectacular shows for us. They are opening their doors to reveal their secrets and showcase their workspaces during free tours scheduled for April 11 and 12, 2026. These visits are available by registration.

In celebration of the 2026 European Days of Craftsmanship (JEMA), the iconic Moulin Rouge will open its doors to showcase the skills that bring the world of entertainment to life. Titled “Cœurs à l’ouvrage” (Hearts at Work), this edition shines a spotlight on French excellence in craftsmanship—highlighting unique techniques that are constantly evolving and reinvented.
On April 11 and 12, 2026, the Moulin Rouge’s Art Houses invite you to discover the craftsmanship behind the dazzling costumes, shimmering accessories, and intricate details. Meet the exceptional artisans behind these creations and explore the distinctive universe of each Art House.

    Recognized in the fashion and luxury sectors, its feather artisans apply their unique expertise to the magic of the show. Voluminous boas, spectacular "gabrielles," and majestic adornments—genuine feather treasures that envelop dancers and illuminate the stage with a unmatched glow.
