What if we set off to discover Paris of Jean de La Fontaine ? The renowned French poet was born on July 8, 1621 in Château-Thierry, before sharpening his fame in Paris from the age of 20. After two years at the Saint-Magloire seminary, on Rue Saint-Jacques, he left and returned to Château-Thierry before coming back to the capital, for good this time, in 1664.
The playwright frequents the salons of Marguerite d'Orléans and, of course, Madame de La Sablière. It was at the latter’s house that he died, on rue Plâtrière, in 1695. Today, you can still find him in many corners of Paris: at the Jardin du Ranelagh with a splendid statue, at the Louvre, at the Hôtel de Rohan, at theAcadémie Française, at the bibliothèque Sainte Geneviève, rue d'Ulm or even at the cimetière du Père Lachaise.
All these places, and many more besides, can be found on Sweetvisite, a touristic site specializing in discovering Paris along the footsteps of famous personalities and events.
