Parc de Bagatelle is a must-see in Paris. Steeped in magic and steeped in history, this botanical garden on the Bois de Boulogne side of the river stretches over 25 hectares, unveiling stunning landscapes that attract Parisians of all ages in search of poetry.
Its construction was the result of a daring bet between Queen Marie-Antoinette and the Comte d'Artois. In just sixty-four days, this now iconic park and the Château de Bagatelle it houses, also known as the Folie d'Artois, would have been erected. Now a listed historic monument, the challenge was to build it in less than three months. A challenge reminiscent of a certain cult film!
All around the Château de Bagatelle, the park reveals fascinating landscapes, including a magnificent English garden, a water mirror in which we can discover the reflection of a pagoda, the vegetable garden juxtaposed with the gardener's house, a Mediterranean garden and various water features sheltering mysterious grottoes and beautiful waterfalls. An enchanting setting that often gives us the impression of walking inside a painting. The Roseraie de Bagatelle is also well known to enthusiasts, being one of the oldest and largest in France.
The Parc de Bagatelle is therefore a place to visit again and again if you want to take full advantage of every treasure it harbors. In this idyllic spot where life is good, it's best to take the time to savor every moment and, why not, develop your photographic eye!
