Paris is undeniably one of the most beautiful cities in the world! And around the capital, the Île-de-France region boasts a rich heritage not to be missed! This time, we invite you to discover a Val d'Oise treasure. We're off to Asnières-sur-Oise to discover theAbbaye de Royaumont.
Classified as a historic monument,Royaumont Abbey was built between 1228 and 1235. Today, 800 years later, we discover this historic nugget of the Middle Ages, so well preserved that it takes us back in time. For here you discover the largest Cistercian abbey in the Île-de-France region. Its beautiful Gothic architecture is as fascinating as the ruins of the abbey church.
This magnificent abbey lies at the heart of the beautiful green setting of the Parc Naturel Régional Oise-Pays de France. The monument also boasts three remarkable gardens with a wide variety of atmospheres. At its center is the cloister garden, a formal garden designed by Achille Duchêne in 1912.
There's also a medieval-inspired garden, the Garden of 9 Squares, created in 2004 by Damée, Vallet & Associés Paysagistes, which reinforces the timeless setting offered by Royaumont Abbey. Finally, since 2014, the kitchen garden designed by Astrid Verspieren and Philippe Simonnet has offered enthusiasts the chance to discover the natural regenerative capacities of plants.
