From May 31 to June 7, 2023, the Latin Quarter will live to the rhythm of literature, for the new edition of the Quartier du Livre festival. More than 80 emblematic places of the 5th arrondissement participate in the festival, from the Sorbonne to the Pantheon, through the Collège des Bernardins, with nearly 200 free events for children and adults.
It is on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, cradle of the University, that the first printed book in France was born. The 5th arrondissement has the largest number of bookstores in Paris, including the famous Shakespeare & Company, and its identity has been forged through contact with literature. For one week, book lovers will enjoy events and workshops around the theme of"Voyage, voyages", whether they are students, children or adults.
The Librairie Pedone will hold the Librairie Éphémère which will welcome, during the whole festival, authors for meetings, signing sessions, debates, conferences ... Also on the program, readings and animations, theatrical improvisation workshops, literary walks, in the libraries and major monuments of the district. A giant origami dragon is displayed on the Place du Panthéon in June
