Contrary to popular belief, the Seine-Saint-Denis département is full of little cultural nuggets worth discovering, and lush green paths to stroll along. La Grande Rando is a 13-kilometer walk, organized over the past 5 years to take you over the heights of the towns of Montreuil, Noisy-le-Sec and Les Lilas. On September 24, 2023, you can choose between several different routes and departures, following in the footsteps of the Le Grand Chemin development project, the green loop of eastern Paris.
If you do the whole route, you'll start in Montreuil, at the town hall, before heading for the mythical Murs à pêches, flower-filled plots through which you can stroll. Then on to Mozinor, a vertical industrial zone where you'll have exceptional access to the nursery, home to 2,200 trees. You'll pass the future La Dhuys station on line 11 and reach the Noisy-le-Sec cemetery, offering a beautiful view over the département.
A short picnic break at the Stade Huvier, at the foot of the Fort de Noisy, before resuming the walk towards the Parc Communal de Romainville and the Fondation Fiminco, then the Parc de la République and the Centre Culturel Jean Cocteau in Les Lilas, housed in the former Hôtel d'Anglemont. We finish the walk in the Parc Lucie Aubrac, with a lovely panorama of the area and the history of each place visited in mind.
Don't forget to bring some food if you want to join in the picnic! You can take part in only part of the hike if you prefer, and opt instead for the single7km discovery hike in the afternoon, the 3km treasure hunt or a 1.2km eco-walk. By 2030, the route of the Grand Chemin should be almost 55 kilometers long, thanks to the department's project.
