Fête des Jardins 2023 in the Bois de Vincennes: Workshops, awareness-raising, games and hikes

La Fête des Jardins 2023 returns to Paris from September 20 to 24, 2023, to the delight of garden lovers! As usual, the program includes hundreds of free activities for young and old alike, in dozens of squares, gardens, parks and woods across the capital.

Of course, the Bois de Vincennes, one of the green lungs of Paris, is no exception to the rule, and on Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, 2023, it will be hosting a host of activities for children and adults alike. These include introductory workshops, exhibitions, machine demonstrations, hedgehog awareness sessions, guided tours of the wood and arboretum, games for youngsters, and even a hike!

The Ferme de Paris and Maison Paris Nature are also offering activities. Check out the full program!

Square Carnot
Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2pm to 7pm

• Activities and workshops
  - Discovering aromatic plants
  - Seed discovery
  - Tree-trimming demonstrations by City of Paris arborists and pruners

• Exhibition of pruning equipment

• Workshops on self-locking knots (= types of knots used by mountaineers to ensure their abseiling; they are generally made using a small-diameter rope on the abseiling rope)

• Presentation of wood species

• Presentation of the professions of the Vincennes wood experts
  - Demonstration of skidding with horses
  - Demonstration of rustication (masonry elements imitating wood)
  - Discover the machinery and equipment used to maintain the Bois de Vincennes
  - Waste management presentation

• Questionnaire and participatory clean-up (prior registration required)

• Discovery of pigeon racing

• Raising awareness of hedgehog rehabilitation in a home garden with the Faune Essonne association. Saturday only

• Guided tours
  - the Bois de Vincennes: register on site and visit at 2:30 and 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday
  - Paris arboretum: meet at the École du Breuil for tours at 11am and 2.30pm.

• Hiking with FFRP - Departure in front of the Parc Floral entrance (Château de Vincennes side), Sunday at 10 a.m.
