On the occasion of Sant Jordi, this Saturday, April 25, 2026, Paris marks the Catalan tradition and its literature on a square that’s perfectly named for the celebration: Place de Catalogne. Beyond a dedicated space in bookstores, the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in France is hosting a lovely event with a book and rose market and free activities in the 14th arrondissement.
This festive day invites the general public to discover this culture with an outdoor program open to everyone, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To kick things off, poet Anna Gual will deliver the opening address, followed by a a reading of their poems with the French poet Maud Thiria (11:30) during a session moderated by Cesc Puigbaldoyra, head of the Ramon Llull Institute's Paris office.
Mireia Arguijo and Nil Codina, the creators of the podcast Paris a la catalana, offer at 2 pm a literary walk, a symbolic journey through the heritage of Catalan intellectuals and artists who left their mark on the French capital. Don’t miss the performances by the Castellers de Paris (11:15 am and 12:15 pm), this impressive human tower, nor the sardana workshop (1 pm), a traditional dance open to the public and led by Pau Requena.
The youngest visitors can look forward to Esteve Guardiola’s storytelling sessions, a roaming storyteller (10:30), a creative workshop with illustrator Mar Guixé (14:30), and activities from the Casal de Catalunya de Paris. To discover the language, a workshop will be held at the Benoîte Groult Library (10:15) and in the square (12:15), led by Catalan professor Albert Tomàs, before wrapping up with the concert by singer-songwriter Alba Mafalda (14:15).
Only the language workshop takes place off the main square, so you’ll need to register in advance.
