Nestled on the hill of Montmartre, the mythical Moulin de la Galette of the Impressionists' photos and paintings is an institution not to be missed! Yes, yes, the building is still standing, and despite what one might think, the Moulin de la Galette is no longer abandoned.
The mythical guinguette, which has seen Auguste Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso, Jean Marais and Dalida come and go over the course of two centuries, now sports a new contemporary decor combining raw materials and velvet armchairs, and invites us to rediscover the village of Montmartre far from the crowds of the Place du Tertre!
This chic bistro offers French-inspired cuisine, with a menu created each season by chef Anthony Detemmermann, who has worked with Michel Rostang and at MaSa.
We discover a refined menu with traditional Burgundy snails (very well prepared, arranged on mushrooms) for a rediscovery of flavors (12€), a terrine of foie gras served with its pear chutney (16€), scallops and endives (29€) and a farm poultry supreme sublimated by a chorizo juice (22€) but also meats cooked in the Josper charcoal oven (the pride of the house!).
To accompany the meal, we can count on Cyril Carcenac, a passionate person who has concocted a beautiful cellar of more than 150 references, proposing the best of French regional wines (2.000 bottles in the cellar, from 25€ to 1250€).
And as a good surprise rarely comes alone, the meal ends in apotheosis with homemade desserts just incredible for a contemporary bistro. Lemon tart (organic, please), caramel millefeuille, and chocolate soufflé are delicately made by a promising 22 year old pastry chef Corentin Magnin, formerly of Relais Bernard Loiseau.
And to the delight of Parisians, the Moulin de la Galette unveils a delightful bucolic terrace on sunny days, an opportunity to have a drink under the open sky, with Auguste Renoir's famous Moulin de la Galette Ball in sight.
