On the checkered tablecloths of P’tit Canon, the new restaurant in Paris 17th arrondissement, one enjoys bistro classics that are hearty and homemade.

Friends, today we take you to the 17th arrondissement, to discover a nice local bistro set on rue Legendre since the early 20th century. Named Le P'tit Canon, this gourmet spot hasn’t always been named that way and hasn’t always served the same purpose.

As a matter of fact, in the early 20th century, the place was a house of ill repute! In terms of decoration, the new team chose to leave the place in its own juices with red and white checkered tablecloths, its original tile on the floor, its carved stones, comfortable bench seats and its impressive counter where one comes to have a drink at night, when Le P’tit Canon is turned into a wine bar – also enjoying a nice selection of gin.

For lunch, we can choose on the board and see the options of the day (2 starters, 5 main courses) or on the menu where are featured typically French dishes, hearty and homemade.

You love bistro food? Deviled eggs, terrines and other herring fillets with oil? Look no more, you’ve got all this on Le P’tit Canon menu!

As for us, we tried the semi-cooked duck foie gras in a cloth (homemade! – €14), the egg casserole with foie gras (€9) and the leeks with vinaigrette (€7.50), the three starters whetted out appetite.

Next up, we went for the sausage (€16) with a side of light and runny aligot and the roasted lamb’s shank with rosemary and seasonal vegetables (€24), impressive by its size and full of flavors. Without forgetting the small glass of red wine!

Last but not least, we finished our meal with lemon crepes, as it was on Candlemas, and we left P’tit Canon with a full belly and a smile on our lips!
