For a tasty and successful journey to Russia, head to Pelmeni Paris! This new eatery set in the 17th arrondissement shines a light on the famous stuffed Siberian dumplings with several delicious recipes, homemade, likely to delight meat and vegetable fans’ taste buds.

There is no doubt about it. World cuisine is now a staple in Paris. Although Japanese and Italian cuisines (almost) have no more secret to tell, some specialties remain little-known. It is the case of pelmeni. Originating from Russia, and more specifically from Siberia, pelmeni are delicious fresh dumplings usually stuffed with meat and vegetables and served in broth, smetana (crème fraiche) and fresh herb such as dill.

Considered as one of the oldest traditional Russia dishes, pelmeni are the stars of the fast-food restaurant created by Raphael Eskidjian. Open in February 2021 in Paris 17th arrondissement, Pelmeni Paris gives pride of place to this specialty with several flavorful recipes.

On the menu of Pelmeni Paris? Dumplings – shaped like tortellini – stuffed with meat (kintoa Basque pork, Red Label Auvergne chicken, organic Limousin beef, organic lamb). For vegetarians, go for the varenikis, shaped like half-moons. These are dumplings stuffed with vegetables, such as mushrooms or Russian cheese, tvarog. They are all served with smetana and dill.

To arouse your taste buds with pelmeni, Raphael first and foremost bets on quality with semi-whole wheat organic flour from Moulinde Versailles, organic eggs, without forgetting Red Label PDO and organic meats. And of course, everything is homemade. You can imagine it takes time to make and hand fold all these Russian dumplings. So, to quick up the pace, the young entrepreneur has invested in a pelmeni machine coming from Omsk, Russia. It enables him to make 400kg/hour instead of 6kg in 3 days by hand.

Of course, Pelmeni Paris also serves a few starters to enjoy on site, delivery or takeout such as the staple pirojki, as well as desserts such as the delicious medovik, some cake based on several layers of honey, almond, cream, and walnut sponge cake.

Last but not least, Pelmeni Paris also enjoys a delicatessen with a nice selection of Russian vodkas, Slav liquors, and even Armenian (where Raphael comes from) and Georgian wines.

As for the décor, Pelmeni makes us travel, relying on a decoration worthy of the Czar era with a baroque and rococo vibe. 16-branch chandelier, copies of paintings from the Romanov dynasty… Travel back in time to the time of Czars and Czarinas from Pierre Le Grand’s Russian empire. True change of scenery!
