Small Thai bistro featuring a wide sheltered and heated terrace across the Bassin de la Villette, Nana is the brand-new restaurant of MK2 Quai de Loire movie theater, serving – non-stop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., 7 days a week – some flavorful French-Thai-inspired food.
It is in lieu of the former MK2’s burger eatery that Nathalie and Yin – already running Koko, a Japanese bistro a stone’s throw from there – have decided to open this lovely venue. Featuring an exotic décor entrusted to studio Janreji, Nana takes you thousands of kilometers away from Paris, in an exotic setting, with lots of rattan hanging lights, many beautiful plants, and animal bust-shaped vases that we fell in love with.
Before or after a movie at the MK2 Quai de Loire, or just across, at the MK2 Quai de Seine, Nana delights foodies with simple but mastered Thai cuisine warming bodies and taste buds this winter season.
For more conviviality, Nana enjoys a lovely tapas menu to share with guests on the big table: hearty bowl of edamame, classic (€4) or spicy (€4.5) version, light and as crunchy as can be chicken, vegetable or shrimp fried spring rolls (€6), papaya salad (€10), Thai lemongrass sausage (€7), or even seabream ceviche (€11), a starter full of freshness and many flavors, topped with mango, loads of cilantro and lime, chili peppers and scallion.
To pair it all, a dozen cocktails made by World’s 3rd cocktail champion, Nido, available on Nana’s menu, and they are fantastic, such as the Nana cocktail (Gin, apricot, lemon juice, cilantro, lemongrass, roasted sesame oil; €12), or the Tha Pae Market cocktail (Bourbon, red wine with spices, lemon, egg white; €10), available all day long alongside other beverages such as Maison Nana beer!
Let us continue with one of the dishes of the week, which changes weekly, and a dish off the menu: on one hand, the very hearty Nana burger (€16) with exotic flavors, minced beef with Thai spices, pickles, aged cheddar, grilled bacon, cilantro, red curry mayonnaise and served with sate fries; on the other hand, a delicious green curry chicken with coconut milk, basil and lemongrass (€14), served with a side of stirred vegetables and rice, a dish warming our taste buds up!
As highly recommended by the chef – and although we were full already – we went for one of the Thai-twisted desserts. On the menu, the mouthwatering hibiscus panna cotta (€7) and the matcha French toast (€10); but we went for the delicate pandan and coconut rice pudding (€7), perfect to wrap it up on a sweet note!
