When you enter YO' Mac And Cheese, you feel like you're traveling across the Atlantic, landing in New York and tasting its incomparable macaroni and cheese, a traditional American dish, as much as the hamburger. This restaurant in the 20th arrondissement, a stone's throw from Père Lachaise, celebrates hip-hop culture in all its aspects, from the careful decor to the names of the dishes, which are particularly well found. But here, it's French-style macaroni, with fresh, high-quality AOP cheeses!
Chaource, Tomme de Savoie, Brie de Meaux, Roquefort... If the classic cheddar cheese is obviously present, macaroni is revisited in abundance and offers an unprecedented and comforting gustatory pleasure. It remains to be seen which Mac you'll melt for, since there's an embarrassment of riches to choose from! On the menu, cheese and rap, recipes named after urban culture legends: Tupac Chaource, Eminemental, Fifty Chèvre!
You can stay with the classic, with melted AND gratinated cheddar, a cream infused with herbs, or venture into more surprising mixtures, with spinach, walnuts, Bleu d'Auvergne... Because it is possible to spice up your Mac & Cheese, with vegetables, meat (existing in halal version), honey, add cheese, chives, pepper... Not forgetting the vegan option, with a lactose-free cream, broccoli and faux-mage. You also have the choice between the French or American size, for four euros more, and clearly, only hungry stomachs will support the latter!
We opted for the small stomach version, and tested an original and a classic: the Straight outta Comptome, with Tomme de Savoie cheese, zucchini and onions (11 euros) as well as the Ol' Dirty Cheddar (7,50 euros). Two already generous must-tries, a pure delight! On the dessert side, we also find America, with brownies, cookies, muffins, cheesecakes or carrot cakes, without forgetting the famous milkshake, all homemade!
In the hip-hop spirit to the end, this unique restaurant hosts the works of several street artists, and recycled furniture redesigned by them, the sale of which benefits in part to charities. Solidarity is the order of the day, as hip-hop culture dictates! So you can leave with the table or the chair on which you ate, towards your Parisian living room.
