Plein les yeux, Paris Cinémathèque retrospective

Paris Cinémathèque organizes a retrospective of the most impressive movies: “Plein les Yeux” gathering 16 monumental productions to watch or re-watch from July 10 to July 30, 2017.

Today, more and more people prefer watching a movie on the small screens of their computers or laptops. What a shame! At the movies, you are immersed in a gigantic screen, in the dark and this is how you feel the most beautiful, the most unforgettable and the most genuine movie sensations.

You cannot get lost in Lawrence of Arabia’s desert with the same intensity as you feel the astonishing power of Metropolis and its 36,000 extras or shiver with fear whilst watching Titanic if you are not watching these movies on the big screen.

In short, this summer, the Cinémathèque sees the big picture and offers its Salle Henri Langlois which screen is 13-m wide and 6-m high to the following movies:

  • Aguirre, the Wrath of God by Werner Herzog
  • Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola
  • Ben-Hur by William Wyler
  • Sand Pebbles (The) by Robert Wise
  • Black Hawk Down by Ridley Scott
  • Exodus by Otto Preminger
  • Host (The) by Joon-ho-Bong
  • Kagemusha by Akira Kurosawa
  • Lawrence of Arabia by David Lean
  • Matrix (The) by Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski
  • Matrix Reloaded (The) by Larry Wachowski and Andy Wachowski
  • Metropolis by Fritz Lang
  • My Fair Lady by George Cukor
  • Predator by John McTiernan
  • Titanic by James Cameron
  • West Side Story by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins
