A biopic about murdered Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci will be out soon.
And this drama movie is directed by Ridley Scott, based on a novel, and starring Lady Gaga and French actress Camille Cottin. A biopic opening on November 24, 2021 in France.
83-year-old Ridley Scott is the man behind “Blade Runner”, “Alien”, “Thelma and Louise”, “Gladiator” (which sequel is to be out in 2025), “Black Hawk Down”, “Hannibal”, and even “The Martian”.
With “House of Gucci”, he turns Sara Gay Forden’s novel (“The House of Gucci: A sensational story of murder, madness, glamour, and greed”) into a movie.
And for this biopic, Scott has gathered a fantastic cast. Gucci heir is played by Adam Driver (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”, “Annette”…), and his future ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani by Lady Gaga who already stood out in a movie in “A Star is Born”.
By their sides, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto, Jack Huston, and Camille Cottin.
The movie is to be out in 2021, celebrating house of Gucci’s hundredth anniversary.
“House of Gucci” is about the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (Driver) on March 27, 1995 as he was the heir and grandson of Guccio Gucci, aka the founder of the famous Italian luxury brand. His future ex-spouse, Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga), has ordered the murder to get the heritage share that was to be hers before Maurizio remarries with Paola Franchi (Cottin).
Between glitter and strass, House of Gucci takes us to a universe or plots and treasons that made the daily life of the Gucci heirs until the dramatic death of CEO Maurizio Gucci in March 1995.
Ridley Scott delivers a fantastic ast with great movie stars, but if there is one name to remember in this biopic is Jared Leto who brillantly plays the eccentric cousin Paolo who has no talent but amusing viewers because of his incompetence and bad taste.
Lady Gaga is completely devoted to her character, Patrizia Reggiani who became Mrs. Gucci after marrying heir Maurizio. She is a vulgar, class-less woman who yet has a great ambition and a consuming thirst for richness and power. Moved by her desire and need of social revenge, she is always plotting and ready to get rid of those getting in her way.
Beyond the actors' performances, Scott delivers a travel back in time with a staging using the colorimetric codes and the soundtrack from the 70's to the mid-90's. Each time era is represented by a characteristic fashion style also returning on the history of the double Gs luxury brand.
In other words if you love passion love stories and family betrayals, you are highly likely to enjoy House of Gucci.
