This part of the Palais de la Cité Médiévale (the former living place of the Kings of France) was transformed into a prison during the French Revolution. Now, only remain the Guards room and the Great Hall built under Philippe IV’s reign, as well as the kitchen from John the First’s reign, still in their original state. As for the cells, visitors can discover the one where Queen Marie-Antoinette was locked before she was beheaded.

Children from 7 years old can take part in the "Patrimoines en poésie" workshop. Meet on Saturday September 18 and Sunday 19, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for poetry workshop with the story lab, after a family tour of the medieval parts of the Conciergerie. Careful, to participate, you must sign up first.
